While they can make an awful mess, we don't knock the barn swallows' nest down. We get used to them and they to us. This group hatched out two clutches of eggs last summer. We're looking forward eagerly to their return.
Oh yeah. I actually flooded the kitchen last summer while trying to get a good shot of the mother and babies. Here, she'd sounded the alarm and they're all down in the nest, out of view.
