I'm having trouble getting all the things done that I'm supposed to do at the beginning of a school year. Along with the usual beginning of school duties, I'm once again fighting the same old battles with the school administration that I wrote about last year in Getting Ready for... and Thermos Bottle Barometer. Added to the frustrations at school are some unique, but terribly important family responsibilities that occur randomly, but frequently, and take up a good bit of my time. Hoping that I'm at least an average to slightly above average educator, the thing that makes the most sense to me is to cut my hours of responsibility where I can. Publishing Educators' News has been a tremendously emotionally rewarding experience over the last year and a half, but it is, however, a major time consumer in my life. So...at least until Labor Day while I hopefully get caught up, I'm suspending updates to the site. I'll also see how it feels to be a "normal person" again, not tied to producing regular site updates. I guess I'm just sorta burnt out, and that's a very bad thing for a teacher at the beginning of a school year. I've always found that the cure for me is to watch Teachers again to remind me that I can "make a difference" in the lives of children and then dive in to the task at hand. Best wishes for a happy and productive 2002-2003 school year. Steve |
