Resumé

Somewhere along the line, things just got out of hand.

MacHighway - Mac Powered Web Hosting For Mac Users, by Mac Users since 1997I originally posted a web site with my ISP to house my meager educational sharewares. As time went on, the necessary downloadable files were strewn across multiple servers, and I was still running out of space and suffering bandwidth woes. Going with a single web host solved our space problems, but we had one hosting service go out of business, another disappear (with the cash) in the middle of the night, and another that was just a bad choice on our part. But we've also had some good service, and the site is now hosted on MacHighway.com (formerly ItsaMac.com). They're an excellent host, and I recommend them if you're searching for a Mac oriented web host.

While the original purpose of the MATH DITTOS 2 site was to house my math sharewares, it's grown to also contain columns and editorials I've written, a Desktop Photos page that has become the most visited page on the site, the Educators' News subsite, and a variety of odds and ends such as pages of old freebies for pre-OS X Macs, Vintage Mac Software, and some other downloadable files.

The purpose of the MATH DITTOS 2 series was to provide students a way to learn to compute while learning their basic math facts. I had a lot of students during the last ten years I taught who were certainly bright enough to learn computation, but the standard task analysis of learning all their facts first just didn't work for them. When I started writing fact controlled math worksheets, I was really rather pleasantly surprised at how well the idea worked. The series has become a bit of a cult favorite among special educators around the country. It's not a magic bullet for basic operations, as the process takes a good deal longer than a traditional approach, and some kids don't seem to thrive with it. But for some kids where everything else seems to have failed, MATH DITTOS 2 has worked.

You may notice the Resumé link at left, as I retired from teaching in Indiana in 2004 and left my job at Rose-Hulman in February, 2008.

I hope you find something worthwhile here on mathdittos2.com.
