Somewhere along the line, things just got out of hand. The purpose of the MATH DITTOS 2 series of math workbooks was to provide students a way to learn to compute while learning their basic math facts. I had a lot of students during the last ten years I taught who were certainly bright enough to learn computation, but the standard task analysis of learning all their facts first just didn't work for them. When I started writing fact controlled math worksheets, I was really rather pleasantly surprised at how well the idea worked. It's not a magic bullet for basic operations, as the process takes a good deal longer than a traditional approach, and some kids don't seem to thrive with it. But for other kids where everything else seems to have failed, MATH DITTOS 2 has worked. The original purpose of the MATH DITTOS 2 site was to house my math sharewares. Over the years, the site has grown to contain columns and editorials I've written, a Desktop Photos page that has become the most visited page on the site, the Educators' News and Senior Gardening subsites, and a variety of odds and ends, such as pages of old freebies for educators, Vintage Mac Software, and some other downloadable files. In January, 2010, the MATH DITTOS 2 series became freeware. I hope you'll find the materials useful in your classroom. Send Feedback to |
